Background
The Finnish Society for Research in Art Education (STTS) is an association founded in 1983 and is a member society of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies (TSV). The society aims to strengthen the social impact, renewal, research collaboration, and research-based teaching in the field of art education research.
The Finnish Society for Research in Art Education includes personnel from teaching and research fields, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students from Aalto University, the universities of Jyväskylä, Lapland, Oulu, and Turku, and the University of the Arts Helsinki.
Work
In the society's activities, art and education are approached at all levels of society and education, recognizing their significance in interpreting social reality and building communities. The mission of the Finnish Society for Research in Art Education is to:
- promote and bring together research on art education conducted across various fields of art and science;
- act as a link between researchers in the field;
- disseminate knowledge on issues related to art education;
- contribute to the development of art education as a scientific and research field;
- support the development of art education teaching;
- emphasize the importance of the art educational perspective in contemporary society.

Proceedings
The society publishes the peer-reviewed journal Finnish Journal of Music Education in collaboration with the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, and the peer-reviewed journal Research in Arts and Education in collaboration with Aalto University’s Department of Art and Media.

Join Us
You can join the society by paying the annual fee of 20 euros (10 euros for students) to account FI25 4730 0010 5765 01 (POP Pankki). Use "Suomen Taidekasvatuksen Tutkimusseura r.y." as the payee and 1009 as the reference.
In addition, send your contact details (name, position, organisation/educational institution, postal and email address) to stts@uniarts.fi (recipient: the society's board).
