STTS Network Coffee Talk: Neurodiversity in Arts Education
This talk will explore a neurodivergent-affirming framing of neurodiversity terminology, language, and communication from a pedagogical research perspective within arts education. By examining the implications of this neurodivergent-affirming framework, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of epistemic justice and equitable approaches to research, with greater consideration of neurodiversity and broader intersectional lived experiences.
Speaker: Timothy J. Smith, PhD, MFA (they/them) is a neurodivergent artist, educator, and university researcher at the University of the Arts Helsinki, whose work focuses on neurodiversity- and disability-affirming approaches to higher arts education.
